Artist Feature: Temple Design Art

Tell me about your brand, how did you get started?
"I've loved art since I was a kid. Over the years I found myself creating it in different forms- graphic design/3D rendering at my full time job and painting/drawing on my own time. When Covid hit, the company I worked for suffered a huge loss and most of the employees were laid off, myself included. I found myself going back to my other, more traditional art during this time and decided to start my own company. Through it I provide art services including graphics, painting, drawing, and engraving leather and wooden items."

What inspires you?
"Other people's art, nature, and color."

What is your favorite product you've made?
"My painting entitled "Chloe" is my favorite painting. I recently started engraving journals though and I'm really enjoying that. It's a piece of art that someone can also use."

When you're in the studio, what are you listening to?
"Spotify playlists, usually radio stations of musicians I like. Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, X Ambassadors, Fitz & the Tantrums, to name a few."

Tell me about your creative process.
"If I'm working on a painting or drawing, I usually work from photo. I sketch the outline and placement of the composition on the paper or canvas, then I put my headphones on and start working. For my engravings, I either work from photo or design from my head."

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
"Others have the right to not agree with you, while you have the right to live your life the way you want."

What is your dream project?
"Being commissioned to work on a large scale piece."

Do you have a favorite artist?
"I've loved Chuck Close for years. His paintings amaze me."
